F.J.Ratchford are delighted to celebrate 130 years this year as one of the few remaining genuine family businesses committed to stocking and supplying quality and innovative covering materials, and a huge range of accessories into a wide number of markets in the UK and abroad.
In 1889 Frederick John Ratchford started what was to become a lifetimes family commitment for five generations of the Ratchford family, to explore and design new covering materials, by stretching the boundaries in shade, finish, product design, and specifications, yet still concentrating on our main core business of stocking and supplying quality covering materials.
Over the years, through a lot of hard work and commitment, we have grown to be recognised as a major stockist and supplier in the UK and abroad, due to promoting our products at home and export markets.

Our own range of quality covering materials have kept in line with the modern requirements of our customers, but we have not forgotten where we started and our ongoing wish to see the continuation of traditional binding materials by traditional book binders, printers, stationers, pattern book manufacturers, designers, publishers and hobbyists etc.
Our own in house slitting machines, enable us to cut materials down into bespoke size coils from the master roll, these can then be used on industrial lining machines for note pads & books etc. We are also pleased to offer our own sheeting services, where we can cut materials into sheets from the roll to your required size. Our materials are carefully packed, either onto pallets or individual parcels, to be dispatched to the UK, or shipped abroad by sea or air freight. Our export department have many years experience in sending goods abroad, and dealing with most problems which can occur when sending goods overseas.
